I am intrigued by how words mean when we imply that they do,
how they tend to break up across the rock of accountability
and in the soup kitchen of the unconscious.
Do you know what I mean?

Talk-Over
You can’t hide the greasy irony
dripping too quickly upside
that warmed up talk-over
trashing the possibility
of someone speaking
something you don’t
already know.
Dripping with the apparently un-self-conscious irony of a monologue masquerading as a conversation, the "talk-over" talker dominates and interrupts. Negotiating an interaction with such talkers is one of my most unenjoyable tasks.
I try not to become one myself... at least that way, I can keep the numbers down. Seriously, it is a tough intervention, since it seems like no intervention is ever effective without being a total a**hole myself... I'll have to reflect on this a bit more.

ReplyDeleteHow do you deal with it?
